The official presentation of the IV World Forum on Local Economic Development took place in Plaza Luis Camoes, city of Praia, on Thursday, December 2, 2016. The forum is scheduled for October 17 and 20, 2017, with the participation of national, regional and local representatives. , professionals and other stakeholders around the world to promote a global dialogue on Local Economic Development (LED).

The President of the Republic of Cape Verde, Jorge Carlos Fonseca, and the Prime Minister, Ulisses Correia e Silva, expressed their confidence in the positive impacts that are expected to be achieved with the forum. Actors from the private sector and civil society were present, along with the organizing partners, represented by the United Nations Development Programme. The forum was presented to the social and economic actors of the Cape Verde territory.

This global event is taking place for the first time in an African country. It aims to be an opportunity to strengthen decentralization and the role of municipalities in the development of citizenship.
