Associations of Municipalities signed Agreements within the framework of the IV World LED Forum
NewsThe National Association of Municipalities of Cape Verde (ANMCV) has signed two cooperation agreements with partner associations from Brazil, the National Confederation of Municipalities (CNM), and Andalusia, the Andalusian Fund of Municipalities for International Solidarity (FAMSI), in the framework of the IV World Forum on Local Economic Development.
Among several objectives, the agreements aim at institutional strengthening between municipalities, the promotion of capacity-building actions, the exchange of experiences and the implementation of projects in various areas.
“These agreements are important for Cape Verdean municipalities because they help foster local development, share best practices and support project design,” said ANMCV President, Mr. Manuel de Pina.
“Brazil has more than five thousand municipalities, this agreement promotes exchanges between these Brazilian municipalities and Cape Verdean ones. Cape Verde has a lot to gain. Brazil has a lot to gain,” said Glademir Aroldi, vice president of CNM.
Many participants from various countries joined the ceremony, which was also attended by the United Nations Under-Secretary-General and High Representative for Least Developed Countries, Landlocked Developing Countries and SIDS, Ms. Fekitamoeloa Katoa ‘Utoikamanu , United Nations Resident Coordinator in Cape Verde, Ms. Ulrika Richardson and the President of the National Organizing Committee of the Forum, Ms. Francisca dos Santos.
“One of the objectives of the 2030 agenda is alliances. Therefore, this signing of the agreement meets the objectives of the agenda. This alliance will help associations of municipalities to improve the living conditions of the population,” said Ms. Santos.
Over the next few days, the municipal associations intend to meet and discuss the details of the agreements for their future implementation.
It should also be noted that on the same day, the National Association of Municipalities of Cape Verde signed another cooperation agreement with Felcos Umbria, the Local Authorities Fund for Decentralized Cooperation and Sustainable Human Development (Italy), and the National Association of Municipalities – Umbria Delegation (ANCI – Umbria).
