The Process

The World Forum on Local Economic Development (WFLED) is part of an open working process that brings together a strong multi-stakeholder alliance of committed governments, national and international organizations that recognize the potential of the local economic development approach and work together to advance the debate and strengthen a global partnership for specific actions. This process enables concrete cooperation and joint actions that can help translate the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development into local terms, as well as the implementation of the New Urban Agenda, the Paris Agreement, and the Seville Commitment.

The priority of WFLED is to promote inclusive, sustainable and resilient local economic development, which puts people, their territories and their agency at the center, strengthening the articulation between different levels of government, the private sector, civil society, workers’ organizations and other key actors, to co-create local solutions that respond to major global challenges, such as poverty, inequalities, job insecurity and the climate crisis.
