From today until Tuesday, June 1, 2021, the V World Forum on Local Economic Development will take place . The first day included the opening ceremony and the first panels and plenaries

With more than 200 speakers from around the world live and for 5 days, the V World Forum on Local Economic Development 2021 began . The Agency for the Economic Development of the City of Córdoba (ADEC) and the Municipality of Córdoba will host this event organized by an international committee under an initiative of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) .

The opening featured the participation of the Municipal Choir , the String Orchestra and the Municipal Symphonic Band of the City of Córdoba singing the stanzas of the Argentine National Anthem.

Then, it was the turn of the mayor of the city of Córdoba, Martín Llaryora , who maintained that “ the reconstruction of the post-COVID world is the most important challenge that we are all facing. We must not make the mistake of wanting to rebuild the world as it was before: the real challenge is to build a new world, with the best of what was before the pandemic, but without all the negative and unequal things that that world already had .

Institutions, world leaders and local governments must act and build a more supportive, more humane, much better world. We will have to design a strategy in each of our territories to improve the quality of life of our people. Glocalization (thinking globally and acting locally) will be a constant of our times. Local leaders have the enormous responsibility of leading our cities to sustainable development, becoming aware that the current model is totally exhausted, destroying the environment and with it, the possibilities of future generations. We are obliged to produce this change, we are obliged to face this historical fact ,” said Llaryora .

Also present were the Ambassador and Undersecretary of National Affairs of the Argentine Foreign Ministry, Fernando Asencio ; the President of the Andalusian Fund of Municipalities for International Solidarity (FAMSI) , Francisco Reyes ; the Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Finance and Business Promotion and Minister of Digital Economy of Cape Verde, Olavo Correia ; the President of United Cities and Governments (UCLG) , Mohamed Boudra ; the President of the Global Forum of Associations of Regions (ORU Fogar) , Abdessamad Sekkal ; the Director of the International Labor Organization , Argentina chapter, Yukiko Arai ; the representative of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) , Claudio Tomasi ; the First Vice President of the Agency for the Economic Development of Córdoba (ADEC) , Javier Basanta Chao ; and the vice-governor of the province of Córdoba, Manuel Calvo .
