Presentation of the II Regional Forum of Local Economic Development for Latin America and the Caribbean
NewsOn December 6, the 2nd Regional Forum of Local Economic Development for Latin America and the Caribbean was officially presented at the Regina Resort Hotel in Tiquipaya, Cochabamba- Bolivia. It is scheduled to take place from March 28 to 31, 2017, with the focus on productive development to transform territorial inequalities in Latin America and the Caribbean.
This forum is the regional preparatory event for the IV World Forum on Local Economic Development to be held in Praia, Cape Verde, from October 17 to 20, 2017. It is hoped that Cape Verde can position itself for local representatives and leaders from Latin America and the Caribbean. The II Regional Forum expects to receive about 2,000 participants in March, including municipal authorities and local leaders, who will debate the topic of Local Economic Development (LED), for three days in the Municipality of Tiquipaya.
To this end, a national organizing committee has been formed, made up of the Ministry of Autonomies, the Departmental Autonomous Government of Cochabamba, the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), the Federation of Municipal Associations of Bolivia (FAM Bolivia), the Association of Municipalities of Bolivia (AMB), Association of Municipalities of Cochabamba (AMDECO), Autonomous Government of Tiquipaya and Universidad Mayor de San Simón (UMSS).
During the presentation of the II Regional Forum, the Cape Verdean ambassador in Brazil, Domingos Mascarenhas, expressly attended the occasion as an integral part of the executive committee of the IV World Forum on Local Economic Development promoted by the Government of Cape Verde, the United Nations Program for Development (UNDP), United Cities and Local Governments (UCLG), Brazilian Service to Support Micro and Small Enterprises (SEBRAE), International Labor Organization (ILO), Organization of the United Regions (ORU FOGAR), Fund for Municipalities of Solidarity International (FAMSI) and Metropolitan City of Turin.
