On the way to the 6th World Forum of Local Economic Development (WFLED), the Basque institutions join as a main partners of the international gathering
NewsThe meeting ‘The Role of Basque Institutions in the 6th World Forum of Local Economic Development (WFLED)’ took place on 16 December at the headquarters of the Basque Government delegation with the main objective of joining forces in the process towards the Forum.
In this day, organised by the Local Coalition 2030 Secretariat, the Secretariat for Social Transition and Agenda 2030, the General Secretariat for European Union and External Action and Lehendakaritza – Eusko Jaurlaritza, the importance and interest of the 6th WFLED Forum for the various Basque actors was shared and Emilio Rabasco, Director of FAMSI, and Xavier Mestres, Coordinator of the Forum, were able to share the progress of the programme and next steps of the roadmap.
This meeting served to agree on possible collaborations and coordination of the Forum with other agendas and events, especially with a view to the 4th International Conference on Financing for Development, to be held from 30 June to 3 July 2025 in Seville, which will be a key milestone to take the results of the WFLED Forum and the progress made by local and regional governments on financing for development in their territories. In this sense, it was extremely important to bring together points of view towards the creation of an alliance with the Secretariat of the Local Coalition 2030 and the role of the Basque Country and coordination with other networks and territories was defined.
