The opening speech was given by Johannes Krassnitzer, International Coordinator of the United Nations Development Program, as a reference for the International Committee of the Forum.

Krassnitzer said that “we have the responsibility to coordinate the socio-economic recovery in the United Nations system. A strong axis of recovery, in all countries, are SMEs; it is a fabric of a functioning local economy that can provide perspective for the future. That is why this edition of the Forum is very important ”.

“Local governments must adopt new approaches. We are major players in globalization. We must have the necessary audacity to lead our communities in economic and productive matters towards productive economic models that integrate the four Cs: circular, creative, knowledge and mainly community economy; incorporating in it the perspective of gender and diversity ”, indicated, in turn, the Mayor of the City of Córdoba, Martín Llaryora.

During the event, in addition, the objectives of the Forum were presented, among which the need to encourage cooperation at the national and local level and stimulate policies for the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) at the local level was highlighted.

The presentation agenda of the Forum continued in the Botanical Garden of the city of Córdoba, where the Deliberative Council and the Legislature declared the event of municipal and provincial interest, and greetings and words from some members of the International Committee were presented.

After a year marked by the pandemic, the Global Forum returns online and will bring together officials from national, regional, local governments, civil society organizations, business organizations, universities, professionals and other stakeholders from around the world, broadcasting live more than 40 sessions during 5 days, with speakers from all over the world.

The thematic axes of the Forum will be three:

  • Territorial economic models to address inequality in the current pandemic crisis; Y
