The official presentation of the 4th World Forum of Local Economic Development was held at the Luis Camoes Square, Praia city on Thursday, 2 December 2016. The forum is scheduled for 17- 20 October 2017, with the participation of national, regional and local representatives, professionals and other interested parties from around the world to promote a global dialogue about Local Economic Development (LED).
The President of the Republic of Cabo Verde, Jorge Carlos Fonseca, and the Prime Minister, Ulisses Correia e Silva, expressed confidence in the positive impacts the forum is geared to achieve. Actors from the private sector and civil society were present, together with the organizing partners, represented by the United Nations Development Programme. The forum was presented to the social and economic actors of the Cabo Verdean territory.
This worldwide event is taking place for the first time in an African country. It aims to be an opportunity to strengthen decentralization and the role of municipalities in the development of citizenship.
